Well Guys after getting my ASA Driver's foot in the door last year at the cost of my own 2007 Race Season. I will be focused on my own Race Season for 2008. But before I can start to plan my season out I need get my NASA Membership rolling. I hope the team will be rolling with two DSM's the second being a 1996 Eclipse GS. As you all know I am the single father of a beautiful two year old girl. So that makes my Planning, Attending, and Focusing on my Racing very difficult at times. So any help my fellow Dsmtuner friends can provide in the area of planning or notifying me of events is a big help. As I can not be spending hours sitting at the computer with out being distracted. I plan on having calender of events completed and posted by the end of next week. Have a great season everyone and always drive safe:thumb:

This is not set in stone and will change, I need to get my NASA Membership and read up on the rules. I also need to check on the regulations pertaining to a new driver/member entering a race season and what if any tracks and events I will be limited to. I will update this schedule as I would like to make it to more events in different regions. Mainly Southern California. I am also looking into renting Willow Springs for a day to get some more seat/track time and any who want to come and see the car are welcome to come. Late January I will be doing touch ups on the car, New Roll Bar Padding, New Gauges and maybe some fresh paint (Maybe) Other then that the car is perfect. I am going to get in touch with my website designer and have a video section added so that I can upload videos of the race. Thank you all and have a good day.

Run Thunderhill if you can. I love that track. It has everything; off camber corners, blind crests, long sweepers, low-speed-crank-the-wheel-and-gun-it turns, man......just thinking about it gets my blood flowing. Road America does the same thing to me. :D

To race wheel to wheel with NASA you have to have a competition license. They're very careful about handing out these licenses. They are not bought. They are earned. First you must pass the competition school which earns you a provisional (rookie) license. To enter the competition school you must be approved. This is done by submitting your 'resume' of racing history. They will probably want to do a check ride just to make sure you are ready. You must be able to pass in traffic, race (not just drive) off line, prove very knowledgeable about the rules and regulations, etc.

They will give a provisional license if you have a license with another racing club that they recognize (first link, bottom of the page). But this is done on a case by case basis and usually involves a lengthy discussion, written test, and a check ride. The Provisional license requires you be incident free for 8 races.

How To Get Your NASA License

For others reading this, if you have no license with another club and/or little experience, you'll need to do the HPDE's and learn how to drive safely. Your HPDE experience could be a weekend or two if you have lots of prior experience or a few years if you have no experience and learn slow. Even a 2 time Formula 2 champion went through the HPDE program with NASA. He became a better driver for it too. It's very important to learn good habits. You'll want to be able to drive the course just like standing up to get another beer from the fridge. Do you tell your legs to move while you walk? Nope, they just do it. Likewise, you shouldn't have to tell your body to brake, turn, apex, and accelerate. Those should be on autopilot while you're watching traffic around you, watching the track for changing conditions, racing off-line, and planning passes. Do you want to be a back marker or do you want to podium? No one gets to the podium on raw talent.

Best of luck to you this upcoming season.

I will have to come watch when you hit the Miller Motorsports Park.

I remember reading that when I was planning my 07 Season. So I thought I would check again. I still plan on Renting Willow Springs for a day, I have had Dirt Track, Asphalt Circle Track, and Dirt Rally experience and have done some small time club road racing. But nothing as Major as NASA SU. I plan on doing a HPDE just to be on top of things. And to see were or what I should do to be on top of my game.

Could you post up in the regional forums before you come out to a different region for a race? I know I'd like a week or two advanced notice so I can make plans.

Yes I will let everyone know ahead of time. With how busy life can be these days. I know how difficult it can be to find the time on short notice. I will let everyone know ahead of time.

Tyson - Got any defenant dates as of yet for this upcoming season? Looking forward to see how you do this year with the new car. Good Luck !!! :thumb:

I think when my series is over I am going to try and hit some of the NASA events in the Southeast Region. Even though there is a "Florida" region, the southeast tracks are actually closer to me (ie Road Atlanta and Barber). Those are at max a 5 - 5 1/2 hour drive, where as Miami, pulling the car is over 11 hours.

Still waiting on them to post the 2008 Season. Man I tell you what, I want to hit as many tracks, events and HPDE's as I can. But as a first year NASA Member your kind of limited on how many races you can enter because your region only holds so many events. With that being said, I am going to invest some money in attending a couple Racing Schools and a bunch of open track days along with my NASA Schedual and HPDE's. That way I can get a lot of seat time. I will not be able to check the forums in the the next couple of days. (Family Stuff) But I should be back around Friday.:thumb:

Sounds good man. I understand about the regional race stuff as well. I was checking into some NASA items as well for me to run in the spring and summer for more seat time and licensing issues. Hope the family stuff is good and not bad.

If you are making your way over to Summit Point, WV let me know. I am about 10 miles from there and would help any way I can. Good luck!

Not sure if this was directed to Tyson or myself. I would Love to come up and race there. But as of right now, thats a little too long of a pull for me to do right now. Maybe sometime in the near future though :) More funding anyone ??? :sneaky: :sneaky:

I think it would be cool host a lapping day for just DSM's. Have a DSMtuners lapping day event. Maybe at MAM or something that is somewhat centralized. I'd be willing to make a long road trip to play some cat/mouse with some other DSM's.

That would be VERY kewl. But where is central to everyone that would come you know?

You are in Wisconsin, Luda is in Colorado, Tyson is in Montana.....All over the place.

Distance is not a problem for me, and I am looking on the market for a stacker trailer for my toterhome. If I can find a 3 car trailer, I would be willing to pick someone up along the way and bring there car with.[/

You going to swing on down to Florida and pick me up ??? LOL:D Just kidding of course. Nah, distance for me is no issue really either. I would come out to a track to race with nothing but DSM's. That would be a lot of fun.

I would be up for teaming up with you dizmm, maybe find a trailer to borrow however for that kind of trip.
