I have a 1995 TSi FWD. I am running into two problems. 1. I cannot get over 3000 rpms in any gear. When I hit 3000 rpms I can hear my blow off valve leaking and my boost gauge(stock) is maxed out. The engine stalls out bad when I hit 3000rpms. I have a stock T-25. I know that the stock 2G blowoff valve leaks at 12psi.I have the Vaccuum line from the BOV to the intake manafold. The only upgrades I have done is OGP FIPK and a 2G Eprom. Problem #2. My speedometer is not working. I think that I have everything plugged in. Where is the plug that makes your speedo work

my buddy has a 95 talon tsi and when he first got it, his upper intercooler piping kept popping off. wouldnt go above 3k rpms as well. maybe check that out

either you cracked your intercooler (wiggle all the pipes around) or you have a major boost leak somewhere (loose pipe loose hose clamp etc)

check all intercooler piping thats usually what that is.

Just out of curiosity, when was the last time the fuel filter was changed?
I havent changed it I just got the car put together. Would that be it. It will rev up if I am not moving. Also would that make the car skip? Thanks for the reply

Was it comming off where the UIC pipe is on the IC? Thanks for the reply

no it was comming off on the hard pipe in the middle of the 2 soft pipes after the ic and before the tbody.

Could be if the filter is somewhat clogged and it will only let so much fuel to flow through. Then you would be choking the motor. One of my buddies 95 GST was doing this and we check his plugs after we replaced the filter and 1 of 4 was all mess up from minor detonation. Replaced filter and plugs cured it. When we took the old filter off we dumped the fuel out of it and it was dark black in color and sorda thick.

your speedo is a cable well it is on my first gen so i would amagine it is on yours to and if the cable is in the tranny and you never touched the gage cluster then your cable is bad

2Gs have no speedo cable, ae86.

There's a plug on top of the transmission, kind of under the battery. 'Way the hell donw there, but you can reach it from the top- see pic & link in link:

Its probably your eprom. I had the same problem when someone didnt socket my eprom the right way.
The eprom is stock could that still be the problem? I looked at my spark plugs today and they are really black.

man i had the same problem. i put in a boost gauge and after that it would not rev past 3000. after pulling everything out and putting it all back in several time i called a DSM shop and they said plug wires. i thought this was crazy seeing that it did not start till i put the boost gauge in but i tried anyway. well that was it all it needed was new wires and plugs. hope this is your problem.

Thats the solution id recommend. DSMs eat plug wires, your extremely lucky to get 3 years out of any kind you get.
