i wasn't sure where to post this, so i'm doing it here. my friend bought a 1990 talon tsi awd, the guy he bought it off said that it is a JDM performance engine from japan. it is red and says, mitsubishi DOHC 16 valve. it's the turbo but he's not sure if its a 2g or a 4g, but could anyone say what year the engine is, or how he can check himself?

The first engine blew up from losing a timing belt, and instead of fixing it, they bought a used motor from Japan and installed that. It's not a "JDM performance" engine, it's just a used one from there. Which is where the original engine came from, so all that matters are a few electrical connectors and the ECU.

"2g or 4g" doesn't make sense in this question. 1G and 2G refer to the early and late body styles, the 4G is about to come out- the 3G came out in 2000.

Guys selling cars tell more lies than horny prom dates do.
