Hagerstown,
I just installed a Autometer mechanical water temp gague in my 95 gst. (I thought the factory gauge was bad) After I installed the gauge and went to start the car, both fans came on and stayed on. Also the factory gauge still worked as it did before.
There are two places to put the water temp gauge. One location has a single connection on it, which is to the side of the thermostat housing, and the other is towards the rear. The one twords the rear seemed to be of correct size threads, so I used that one. But when you unplug the sensor to the side of the assembly (with one connection) the factory gauge dosent work.
This leads me to believe that the probe on the side of the assembly with one wire coming from it is the factory gauge sensor. And the other to the ecm I am assuming. I am just lookin out to all of those out there who have put the water temp gauge in their cars, and might have some input on this.
Thanks....
