Newbie needs help with car.....

The problem I have is with the car stalling. This only happens every now and then. It will go fine for a few days with no stalls then the next day it will stall. It stalls when I am at a stoplight or sign. Also other times when it doesn't stall the idle goes real low and the car shakes and rattles untill I start driving. I have a 1995 TSi AWD automatic. I was thinking it had something to do with the idle being to low. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Did you try adjusting the base idle speed screw?

Looks like I will have to take it to a shop because I don't have that scan tool. One thing I did notice is that the car is in park the whole time you are using the scan tool. However when I put the car in park it seems that the rpms go up to a normal range and it never stalls or shakes. By the way thanks for the link.

idle steper motor is the problem.REPLACE it and u'll have no more problems.Same shit happend to me.
