alright heres the problem one day about 3 months ago my car(1990 talon awd) was hard to start like the battery was dead, but it did start when i got to a red light it stalled out and wouldn't restart. I had a friend come down to jump me but it still wouldn't start I had to bump start it to get it going. So I finally got around to working on it again its been sitting, got it started and it wouldn't charge my battery. When it was idling and I turned everything on to put a load on my alt, my safc said it was getting like 10 volts and it almost stalled the car. So I went and got a new alt. and put it in today. Samething it wont charge the battery and when i put a load on it goes down to like 11.7 volts. Now I thought the battery was just to start the car and after its started the alt. provides the volts to run everything, am I wrong is it the battery, or do I have a bad wire somewhere. Please Help sorry for long post just want to paint a good picture of whats going on

does the wire from the alt. go straight to the battery or is there any connections between the two

If the battery is not charging, you MIGHT have a bad battery. Sometimes after a battery gets so low . . . it just wont hold a charge anymore. Easiest test would be to just take it to AutoZone or another automotive store and have them test it.

I'll try and look into the Alternator wire question tonight when i have my FSMs at hand :thumb:

**EDIT**

Also be sure to check:

+Battery connections are snug and clean
+All connections to Alt are snug
! Especially the plug that goes to the alt . . . if that is in the socket but not plugged in fully- your battery wont charge (i've had this happen to me before)

Did you check your fuse?? Mine did the same thing i changed everything out and still did it so i looked at the fuse and it was blown.

Well I took the battery down to Autozone to get it tested, but they said they couldn't because it didn't have a charge, if it had I charge I wouldn't be here, dumbasses. Anyway i got a battery today hopefully this is the problem and there isn't a draw coming from somewhere.

They couldn't throw it on the charger for you ?

Either way . . . hope that was the problem
