i have a ticking in my car...its been 10 degrees out for the past week or so and when i am in second gear and the rpm is droppin from like 2000 to 1000 when it his 1500 i hear a ticking from the passenger side of the engine then accelerating from 1000 to 1500 or so i can hear it again im sure it always makes the sound but its just muffled when im at higher rpms any ideas what it is?? i can hear it with the radio on im not sayin its extremely loud but it is definitely noticeable....and also clutch is not in at all when i hear this ticking i dont kno what it is my dad says that its just the car making noises cus its cold but i wanted to kno what you guys thought thanks

_Probably_ lifters. Possibly a harmonic balancer failing. The first can be ignored, the second has to be tended to with alacrity. It can also be a failing bearing in the timing belt drivetrain, or a solenoid clicking.

If you're adept, get a mechanic's stethescope and find out for sure where it's from.

A can of Rislone RESTORE seems to do very good things to DSM lifters, but I'll be damned if I could tell you why.

Defiant, would that Restore stuff work on all turbos? If so, where can I pick some up at?

well i just found out the ticking goes away when im slowing down in second at low rpms...i think that the engine just wasnt warm yet but im assuming that its nothing major since it doesnt do it when the engine is warmed if it does it in the spring or summer then im gonna worry about it...thanks for the info anyway
