clunking noise when shifting gears

everytime i shift gears it seems like i hit something with the shifter and makes a clunking noise, is this normal? what am i hitting?
its been doing this for a while and still drive like a champ.

If the "clunk is a sound, then how audible is it? Are you sure it's not a "clunking" feeling? Is there increased effort to shift? When was the last time the gear box oil was changed? What you are asking is too broad. You need to be more specific.
