Transfer Case help!!!! Urgent!!

Here's the situation: I'm changing my clutch, so I get everything stripped down to where it needs to be, and I go to take the transfer case off. It comes out a little, and I pry the rest of it out and the transmission basically 'falls' out.

Here's the problem: There's the input shaft that the transfer case is supposed to pull off of. The input shaft comes out with the transfer case. It pulls out of the transmission side instead of the transfer case.

I can't get it out, what do I need to do? I'm need some help pretty badly, I need the car running as soon as possible, but I won't be able to put the transfer case back on unless the input shaft is already in the transmission.

Any ideas and help is greatly appreciated!!

Did the output shaft break when the tranny "fell off"?
The output shaft is connected to the VC on the front end of the tranny. Never heard of it pulling thru.

I've had 2 cars in the past 3 months that I had the tranny out on, do this. I have not had the trannys apart, so I don't know what is on the end of that output shaft. But, it doesn't appear to be able to pull out. There must be a c-clip or pop ring like the axles that retains it, because mine didn't want to come all the way out.

Get some WD-40 or solvent and wet as much of the splines as you can. Lightly tap it on the inside of the t-case, tapping it away from the transmission. It'll come off. The output shaft will come out so far and stop.
