I did something I guess I wasn't supposed to do. I took off the BOV pipe and adjusted my idle so my car doesn't die. The first time I did it the car only boosted to 5 psi on the stock gauge, I put it back on and drove it for a month. I wanted to here the vent again so I took it off again. I drove it for two days. on the first day I noticed the boost went higher this time, all most up to where it would be if I had the tube on. So I kept driving it. Then on the second day (new years eve) I was trying to get back home by midnight from getting fireworks.

I was going about 75 Mph and noticed my pedal felt kind of light. The car would not keep going so I let off. I felt the pedal vibrate and pushed on it again. When I did that my car was running only on three cylinders(ran like a tractor). when I got the car home I pulled out the plugs, and on the third cylinder the bend and the electrode of the plug was gone plus all my plugs where black and wet. I just recently put in platinum plugs in it and maybe drove around 1,400 miles on them. WHAT HAPPENED?

The mods I have are: Ehxaust just the muffler, K&N air filter, and the MAS hacks, on a 91 GST

Platinum plugs are not recommended for turbo cars, and at this point I don't know if that's a myth or not. Supposedly the early Boschs had trouble with losing electrodes, again I don't know how true it is.

But doing 135 at all isn't a good idea, and it's a worse idea on a car that's not tuned to within an inch of its life.

Yeah, platinum plugs can't stand up to the heat and cylinder pressures of a Turbo charged engine.

The wetness most likely came from the BOV venting to the atmosphere.

Where in WA are you at?

Should i go to NAPA and make them fix my car? Do you think they will do it? do you think it's my fault that it broke or just crappy plugs they where Champion Platnium Plugs?

they wont do shit for ur car. They have a strict policey about electrical parts. ( if the spark plug falls under an electricle part?) My friends 200 SX SER Turbo does that all the time, its because he runs too much boost and it melts the electrode. Ditch the Platinum plugs, and run colder ones. Good luck.

I'm just north of Yakima.

They won't fix your car. But they should have told you that they weren't for turbo applications, as long as you asked them for them, and didn't pick them out yourself.

I'm pissed I have to fix it now huh? that's going to cost alot to rebuild the head. i haven't even taken off the head yet to see what the damage was all i know is that there is no compression in cylinder 3 and i can move the valves with a screwdriver when the valve cover is taken off. what do you guys recomend the best plugs are for the 1g?
