Hey guys, I'm looking at a nice 1995 Eagle Talon but the car has a problem.

It runs, shifts, drives but after a few blocks it starts to get loaded up(too much fuel)then starts backfiring, studdering and hesitating. If he unplugs the battery for a few minutes hook it back up and then it's good again for a few blocks. He think it might be sensor related but don't really know for sure. And he says tt needs to be brought to a shop and hooked up to a diagnostic machine.

I believe the problem might be a faulty/dirty spark plugs, plug wires, faulty O2 sensor or maybe even a faulty injector.

He's running a big16 turbo at 18 psi with a rewired 190 walbro pump, 1g bov and removed dump tube. Among other supporting mods.

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you mean it doesn't have an aftermarket FPR or it doesn't have one at all? (not even stock?) It needs to have some kind of regulator.

Since it only has a 190lph pump I doubt it needs an aftermarket one, yet. However you might want to make it one of your first mods, that and injectors.

Also, is it throwing a CEL? Unhooking the battery resets the ECU so it sounds like something is getting messed up there...

It almost sounds like a bad O2, are you getting any codes? THe reason I say the O2 sensor is that after resetting the ECU it starts learning the fuel trims based partly on the O2 sensor feedback. Overall it does not sound like a big problem. It should be fairly simple to troubleshoot by trial an error and maybe just needs a good ol tune up like you mentioned.
