While I was driving today, my axle popped partially out of the tranny. It was enough to render the car temporarily immobile. I was able to jack the car, push the axle into place and drive home carefully. I could tell that the circlip at the tranny end of the axle is missing because it can be pulled on too easily. I know that I can easily replace the circlip with a new one. My question is this; will the pieces of the old clip cause any significant damage to the transmission? Should I really try to fish them out, or am I being paranoid?
Oh, Happy New Year, and dregardless of how you feel about war, remember and acknowledge the fighting men and women who are ORDERED to go over there.
Best Regards

I would check engine mounts and bolts which may have allow the engine to shift. If the car has been in an accident this could also explain why this has happened.

You should be paronoid about the piece for it could contribute to catastrophic failure. Try the drain plug, try the fill plug, install magnets to trap and hold the piece.

Well,
the circlip is still on the axle. I replaced it with a new one, and reinstalled the axle. Now, it still is too easy to remove. I can pull it out easilly with my hands. Is there something in the tranny that goes bad that makes this happe? I was thinking center diff. Any help is graetly appreciated.
Thanks
