My car started doing this recently.. It seems that when I turn my car off, and I go to start it say, 15 minutes later, it wants to die. The lights dim, rpms surge very horribly, and drop down to 400rpm and so on, and if I don't give it any gas it will die. Also, when giving it some throttle, it sounds and feels like crap. As soon as I start driving it, the problem stops. Any idea on what this could be?

Thanks,

It may be your ISC servo. Check the resistances across the pins of the ISC connector. There are 2 rows of 3 pins. Measure the resistance between the center pin and the pins on each side of it. They should read about 28-31 ohms. Check all 4 resistances. Also, be sure to check the resistances after the car is warmed up. Sometimes the coils will test good when cold but fail as the coil warms up. This will cause the engine to run fine initially but surge and die after a few minutes.
