Ok so for the past two days when I go start my car my clutch seems funny! Like it gets stuck for a second and then pops out when I press it to start my car, and I have to press down on it more to get it in gear. It jus started doing this since it got real cold the other day like -20 F. So I am hoping is the cold weather Fkin around with me! But this morning I went to start the car and pressed the clutch and it got stuck!!! So I moved it with my hand and pressed it down some more and it came out and it seemed fine. So then started my car and it seemed normal I guess. Please tell me my car is not starting to walk. I have a new engine in hear with around 11k miles and I refuse to believe its already walking!!!

I wouldn't scream crankwalk yet. I am siding with the cold weather as the source. You could try to blead the hell out of it. It was negative 10F here the other day and my clutch returned but it was definitely not nearly as responsive as when it is warm.

If its crankwalk.

There will be a rattling noise when you push the clutch to the floor when the engine is running.

Also even in the warmest conditions when you take a left turn and put the clutch to the floor when the wheel is cranked to the left, it wont return.

Dont worry to much about it, its just the cold mine does it every morning as well and its parked in a garage. I also have just bled mine and put a new slave cylinder and master cylinder on and i know its not any of those. I hate this cold weather

Hey guys well thanks for the help, but I am kinda of a noob when it comes to this kind of stuff. Can someone direct me to a VFAQ of some sort, I dont really know much abomut master slave cylinder stuff? But how much am I lookin to spend to replace both or either or cylinders? Where the heck are they located??? How hard is it to replace?? I will do some research on my own but if some of you can give me a hand and save me some time id appreciate it. Also I heard something about hydrualic fluid. In this picture I attached the resvoir was empty, is that where it goes? If not then where? And if so what do I do? Just go to AutoZone and ask for Hyrdraulic fluid or something?? Please help me out, thanks!!

youve got it man, thats the clutch master cylinder and resevour, fill that bugger up and bleed the system.

yes, thats the master cylinder for the clutch thats empty...you prob have a bad master cylinder and it leaked all of the fluid into the inside of the car under the dash just pull up the carpet at the top above the pedals and see if you can feel/see brake fluid under the carpet and all over the padding on the back of the carpet and on the painted body under there.....refill the master cylinder with brake fluid dot3 or dot4 your choice and get the system bled......this is a common problem on 2nd gen dsm's btw......also you can purchase a repair kit for the master cylinder from satan for a lil under $40 last time i got one (bout 2 months ago) or just get a new master cylinder..:dsm:

Yep again,

I just had to replace my master cylinder on mine. I actually felt the fluid on the pedal. I ended up replacing the whole thing. Satan charged me 118 for the cylinder and I replaced it in about 30 minutes. Had my wife help me bleed it! There's a "how to" with pics somewhere. I can't point you directly to it I know theres one floating around.

Awesome guys awesome, thanks for the help, but how exactly or what exactly do you guys mean by "bleeding it"?? Like I said im kind of a noob with this stuff and forgive me for my ignorance, but just a little more detail and I promise I'll stop bugging you guys!! Thanks for ALL the help.

just curious...did ur first engine crankwalk?

Have you ever bled brakes? It's the same concept. You have to get all of the air out of the clutch lines. There is a little "nipple" on the bottom of the tranny. You have someone get in the car, meanwhile your waiting to "unscrew" the bleeder. As you unscrew it have the person in the car push the clutch in and as soon as the fluid flows out tighten the bleeder. The person will then likely have to pull up the clutch off the floor. Be careful not to let air back in the line when you tighten the bleeder. Also keep an eye on the resevior and don't let it run out of fluid. Do this several times to ensure no air is in the lines then put the cap back on the resevoir and your clutch pedal will not stick to the floor anymore.

I'll locate that vfaq for you and let you know where its all at.

By the way, I'm curious too. Why was the motor replaced. Is that a six bolt motor in there now or a 7 bolt?

Thanks for letting me know how guys I really appreciate it!! And as far as questions regarding my engine no it didnt crankwalk. I bought the car with 40k miles on it...at 53k miles the "turbine shaft on the turbo gave out which send metal shavings into the engine which bent all my valves and bla bla blah" is what the dealer guy said I recall. Luckily the guy at the dealer place is awesome!!! My car still had under warranty and it was going to expire about 2-3 days when that happened. So the guy at the service center at the dealer replaced the engine for me under manufacturers warranty!!! :thumb: AND he gave me an additional one year warranty!! But the warranty is now over so I am on my own. But mad props to Adam at Tom Noes Park Ridge Mitsubishi!! Sorry if this is long but I just had to say, I think I got a big hook up!!! Thanks for all your help guys!!
