I jumped in my car last night and flipped on my headlights. They popped up, but the lights didnt come on. I smelled a burning aroma and immediately popped the hood. No fire of any kind..thank god. I checked the under-the-dash fuse--and it was good but I replaced it anyway. Still no lights. Next I checked the under-the-hood fuse box and switched the headlight relay with the WDO relay(same #). Still no luck. Am I overlooking anything simple or do I need to trace the wires? Thanks for the help.

p.s. what does WDO stand for?

My guess would be the Hi - Lo beam switch inside your steering Column Switch. The On - Off power to that relay switch is in there too. They are pretty rinky-dink plastic POS's.
- Pull the Horn cushion (up then down)
- Pull the Steering wheel (mark splines - might need a small strongback plate)
- Pull the Steering wheel Switch assembly (should be enough slack in harness to pull it over steering shaft & flip it over)
- Pull 3 screws on little metal plate to reveal Hi - Lo switch, etc...
- I just cut wires at switch & mounted 3 pole 2 position Toggle Switch in lower Column cover. ( red is Hi - I think red w stripes is Lo - Black w/stripe was common?)
