Power buttons in door. dropped down [Merged 1-8]in door window button

I went to press my buttons and they fell into the door. I just have to remove that one screw in the dip and take that cover off to fix it right? or do i have to remove the whole door panel? I hope that isnt so because i want to fix it quick and i am not motivated with all the snow on the ground. thanks

You'll have to take off the whole inside door panel to resecure it properly. If any mounting tabs are broken, you can try using epoxy to secure it back in place. See? Epoxy will fix it!!!

I'm with you about working in the cold.

You need to pull the whole door panel. What's most likely happened is that the bosses molded into the plastic that holds the switch assembly have broken off just where the self-tapping screws end. You can often get it to hold in place with slightly longer screws, then epoxy up around their threads to fix it. Not too long, or they'll come up through the top of the trim.
It's really not too much of a job, the panel has five screws around the edge, some plastic popclips (that will want to break in the cold, no doubt) around the edge, a screw under a cover in the fingerhold, and one under the inner door handle trim. Then you'll want to work on it indoors anyway, so the epoxy will cure. Putting it back, just watch to get the trim along the top lined up and tucked in nicely.

Thats exactly what i did. I took the door panel off and they were broken. I had to replace two screws and epoxy the power buttons to the door panel. It only took like 30 minutes to do, not counted the epoxy drying.

2G-specific window/lock control

i went to rool my window down the other day because it is finally warming up and all of the sudden the box for my window/lock control droped down through the holes behind the door pannel. anyone have this probkem and fixed it?

doesnt look t complicated, but i was curious if you have to take off the entire door pannel or if you can just pull that section where the controls stick out of the door.

thanks guys!

how is the pannel connected? i know there is screws, but are there those stupid a$$ clips behind the pannel that help to hold it on? those break to easily.

There are 2 or 3 screws, one int he handle , another unt he little pit and i think one more somewhere but im not sure.

Just pull gently, I took them out so i could really clean my door panels. Its easy stuff.

Once you get the door panel off, you'll find the cheezy bosses the screws that hold the switch assembly up have broken off. Either go to slightly longer screws (not too long, or they'll burst through the top, visible side) or a JB Weld or similar repair.

that happened to me there are 6 screws you need to take off before you can unpop the door panel 4 around the sides (2 on each side) one right by the door handle and another right below the door handle in the little thing you pull to close the door ... once you snap the door panel off i used thin metal wire to rig it back up.. there are a few screws that you can unscrew a bit and tie the wire around it real tight and run it along the underbody of the power window/door switches then rig it up to another screw.. this works very well better then super glue.. if i get the time ill take off the panel and take some pics but im pretty busy you can pm me if you have troubles and ill help ya out

Hapened to me a few weeks ago. Just as defiant said.....the plastic that holds the screw had broke into pieces. All that was used to fix it was some JB Weld. Be carefull though...I did poke one of them through the door panel.

Power window buttons giving me a problem

Okay here it goes, I started my car this mourning and that got out to brush the snow off the car. The doors locked (alarm) with the car running and I needed to get to work. So I went to the garbage can in hope of a hanger instead I found a piece of small diameter PVC piping. I pulled back the window a little so I could slide the pipe in the window and hit the unlock button. The power door locks on the driver side stopped working infact it kind of fell down in the door but you can still see the cluster of buttons. I'm not sure what to do I really don't want to pay big money if I can fix it myself. Well anyone know what to do? any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

The plastic that holds the switches often fails. A combination of the cold and pushing a little too hard probably did it in.
I had this problem on my car and you can just go to the junkyard and get the whole plastic door insert from a Sebring or another talon/eclipse.
It is fairly easy to pop the door panel off and replace.
Let me know if you need more help.

The bosses on the underside of the chintzy plastic trim which the screws holding the switch assembly have broken off. I fixed mine with slightly longer screws, there was enough meat left to get a good hold. You could also epoxy them in place, if you can get the parts into a warm enough place for a good cure.
The interior materials are far and away the worst part of 2Gs.

Brace for holding in window/lock controls

I'm looking for the name of the pice, and the cheapest way to get a replacement.
Inside the door panel, there is a little plastic brace that you screw the box which has the windows and lock buttons, into the door panel... so it stays flush with the inside of the door. He has skinny plastic pieces for the screws. Mine plastic pieces split, and my window controls will not stay where it is supposed to. I believe it's just a small piece taht is screwed into the door panel.
Anyone know what I'm talking about? Where would I get it? A scrap yard? Or order from Mitsubishi?
BTW It's a 97 Eagle Talon.

You could dtry ordering it from a dealer, if they still carry the part. If they can't get it, then I'd go to a junkyard or find a local who'se parting out their car and see if you can get it there.

You could also use longer screws like I did and just JB-Weld the screws to the door. Just a little drop of j-b weld held mine in even when the speakers rattled the door to its death. lol it is quite easy to take that little drop off too with a file.
