I used the guild I found on here to clean my intercooler a few days back, but instead of gas I used some oil dissolving solution (Lectra Motive Cleaner which "leaves no residue and has no flash/fire point"). I cleaned that stuff out with some rubbing alcohol like recommended and shook it dry.
I went for a drive today and after letting it idle for 2 mins and taking off down the road I heard a POP like a backfire when I hit 4000rpm's in first. After that the car would not go above 2000 rpm in any gear or neutral, so I had to drive it home. There is some white smoke comming from the exhaust pipe and it stuters/sputters in idle and dies if I don't give it some gas. The engine shakes and sounds a lot worse then it used to. I just restarted the car and got it to sit at 3000rpm for a min or two but when I went to 4000 it started acting up again and even more white smoke came out.
Is this the cars natuaral way of cleaning out the rubbing alcohol? DId the rubbing alcohol make a mis/back fire that ruined something? Could this be a vacume leak resulted from something?
