Really Smokey on Start-up

Alright, when ever I start my car, it blows out a damn tornado of smoke, its really rediculous. It eventually die down but it still smokes while driving. I asked a mech. and he said it probably had something to do with my head, and its gonna cost about 1200 to fix.

But on the toher hand, my recruiter whose MOS is Motor Tech thinks my timing might be off causing the more shit to burn causing the smoke.

Smoke - White
Smell - oil
When it happens - all the time, smokes real bad on cold engine start-up.

What do you guys think it is? Thanks.

-N/T (with turbo) is it a turboed 420A or a 4G63T convertion?
-Are you loosing oil ? coolant?

420a and the turbo kit aint on its sitting in my room....waiting for a manifold, but anyways its oil im losing.

I got the same problem, but it doesnt start until maybe 5 mins after start up. The Biatch Smokes like a Chimney! Loads of white smoke that smells like oil. If you find out let me know, I did a compression test and came back fair for a 1G NT 165 across, oil looks good

It might be the valve guide seals, but at the same time if your losing it, it might be piston rings. Just a thought.

Yup valve seals or rings. Do a leakdown test to find out exactly where.

That and did you recently put on a valve cover breather? I did on mine and it did the exact same thing and thought it was valve seals, but it wasnt. I changed the valve cover breather to a fuel filter and no more smoke. I've heard of a few other DSMers with the same thing as me.

1,200 bux to fix that blows i have the same problem alot of white stuff comnig out of my exhaust at startup but it goes away once the car's warmed up havent paid any attention to it really cause the car runs fine. i guess i should take mine to parkway chrysler and see whats wrong with it. i hope its just a HG not a warped head
