Hey all, just installed a RNR turbo back.
and the flex tube on the downpipe is resting on my front sway bar.
problem?

could this contact create horrible vibration inside the cabin?
could it wear a hole in my flex tube soon?

the back tip is also resting on the back bumper, pressing it up a bit.

any ideas?

Nope. However you have some options, check engine mounts for damage / adjustment especially the engine anti torque mount. This controls the tilt on the engine and may be the source for contacting the swaybar. You may need to put a block of wood under the engine and jack it up while making adjustments.

Check the sway bar bushings for wear, sometimes you can just shim them with tire tube strips, check to see if the clamps have slotted holes for adjustment.

Check that maker sold your the right parts, and they were damaged in shipping call them and complain.

The rear bumper may be solved by putting block(s) of wood on the top of pipe and under a frame box section, then another long block forward close to the rear axle, you will used your sissors jack to jack the pipe up to increase the bend. Try a little at a time and then check by pulling the blocks out and see if going to clear. Watch the exhaust hangers so you don't damage them as you tweak the pipe. Just use common sense for it's not rocket science but don't crush the pipe or bread hangers. I don't know the system so toss out anything that isn't applicable.

well, i am suspecting its defect.
the stock pipe fit perfect with Plenty of room.

such as the DP bend is too tight, or the pipe itself is too short.

and the end tip touches because the hangers pulled it up tight when mounting.

is there anyplace to buy an inch longer rubber hangers?
also, on the review section there is a review for the rnr downpipe, and his mountes inside the bumper about several inches,

so this leads me to believe mine is defetective all the way around.

i already had to send it back once for the wrong size pipe.

Try adjusting the rear hangers to get the muffler section to fit better. I had the same problem with tip hitting the bumper and a little fooling around with the hangers fixed it.

There is much more room for a stock downpipe which is only ~2" in diatmeter than a monster 3" unit. So saying the stock pipe fits isn't much of a comparison.

If I was you I would return the downpipe and get an O2 eliminator downpipe from RNR. My friend just recently purchesed one from them and I'm very impresed with its quality for how little he paid. Not only will you see a performance increase it will probably fit better also.

I've seen muffler install kits that have a variety of hangers and rubber insulators. You might have some luck taking what you have and going to a muffler shop where you will have a good selection to find what you need. If you have an old tire casing you can cut (hacksaw, saber saw) sidewall sections into strips which you can use as insulator hangers. It may be possible to find some metal straps in the electrical section of a building supply store.

But, I'd go through the roof with the company who keeps screwing you around, you have already invested an inordinate amount of time screwing around with this simple job. I don't know if this is their norm or they just don't care knowing you can't sue them. I also hope you are not having to pay for return shipping costs for that will just add insult to injury for this crap. I don't like having to work on cars when it gets cold much less having to crawl under them screwing around with some careless s.o.b. who spends 15 min making the part in a heated work environment. Grrrrr

You could pay a professional to make the installation, stop payment if possible on the parts supplier and let them fight with you rather than you fighting with them.

its all paid for, haha
damn RNRspeedshop

i think im going to have to have a shop cut and weld in a slightly angled piece to make up where its touching the sway bar.

i email rnr and have gotten NO response.

I could sue them;

the presssure on the sway bar from their incorrectly fitting part, caused me to lose control of my car, and wreck it. oooh my kneck!

If you email them again send a copy to yourself to show you sent the email out. This is legal proof that it left your computer and is presumed to have reached it's destinations. Small claims only works if it's within your state for in part it comes from Federal funding allocated to that state's costs. Though you neck injury is a stretch the garbage they have put you through is recoverable if you give them 72 hours notice of "demand" for ~ bla bla bla. This is unreasonable, even a professional would have problems in both cases and it's their responsibility to make you "whole" ... you pay your money and you get your thing in the eyes of the law.

good suggestion,

i am noticing a lot of vibration since this thread, LOL, so i have been lookin for it, and ya, it sucks ;)

thanks for all the ideas, ill keep you updated.

found the problem.

the Flex tube was installed improperly.

it is supposed to angle down, to let the pipe clear the rearend.
well, it was welding in place backwards. so from the end of the downpipe, the flex angles UP

we heated the dp and pried on it, and it barley clears the sway now.
put longer hangers on the end and its clear of the bumper.

i want a replacement dp
