I have a leaky front caliper and the caliper bolts are FROZEN in the spindle. I sprayed them and used my impact wrench and they wont move......anyone had the same problem?

Re: Anyone encounter stuck caliper bolts??

no - NEVER - the caliper moves side to side on those bolts as the shoes wear & therefore those bolts are lubed with silicon - a good 17MM box end wrench & a single good whack with a hammer generally breaks it loose & they spin out by hand - You are turning them the right way? It's easy to screw that up as they are threaded back toward you...

Unless they are reverse threads....(they arent) I am turning them the right way. :)

I have been working on cars for 16 years and this is the FIRST time I have experienced stuck caliper bolts. I may have to heat the spindle to get them out......nothing is easy dammit

Caliper bolts can definatly become stuck, i dont know about down where you live but here in CT and where i go to school in NY, rust is a big problem.
If you have a lift i would put the car up on that and just hang from a breaker bar after spraying the bolt with lube, im not a small dude an ive had to do it before to 16 year old brakes.

Of course you know one of the things you try IS to give it a good whack with a box end wrench & hammer the wrong way - then go back to loosening. EVERYBODY puts Silicon grease or Anti-Seize or something on those bolts - who the hell did this - You're right - it's ALWAYS something - Good Luck.
