well the engine is goin tappity tap tap now and verifeid w/ one of my master mechanic's at work that its the rod in the block so i'm wondering since i have to get a new block now, should and why would i get a 6 bolt? would it bolt right up to a 2g head which i have heard flows better, anything i would need to do this or would i need a 1g head too, also what would be diff about the 6 bolt to match to a 2g head? what i'm tryin to figure out is that i already have to replace it and have found both farely cheap? what should i do? just completely replace the 7 bolt or go for the 6 bolt if it directly bolts up??? i will help a master mechanic at my work do this so i can learn more but dont wanna mess everything else i just need my car back but would like to do it the right way? what u guys think? any suggestions will be appreciated:thumb:

And just to correct you, a 1g head flows better than a 2g head.

Yeah I didn't bring that up because I was hoping he'd go there and read it LOL.

i thought i read something that said the coolant passages on a 2g head were better and flowed smoother. as for air the 1g takes it.

If you spun a rod bearing, why would you need a new block? All you need to do is check how much damage was done to the rod journal. Have the rod journal polished or turned if necessary, put in new rod bearings, FLUSH THE ENGINE, put it back together and go. This will cost you about $200 at the most if you do most of the work yourself.

A 1g into a 2g could run you 10x that amount.

If you spun a main bearing that's a different story.

pretty sure i spuna bearing as well and my car has almosrt 160k on it, so i am better off replacing the hwole thing block for about 200 and head for about 200? what would be the best combo for block and head that would directly bolt up to my car??? complete 1g swap? 1g blcok 2g head? i def know 6 bolt is better but what will directly bolt up and what would be the best combo for that as well? please must order parts tonight or tomorrow the latest, and by the way i am goin to be doing all the work myself so no labor costs, i def want to replace everything lower miles

LOL...people some times dont give a direct answer to your question huh?? anyway the way to go if your goin with a 6 bolt block is to get the long block...meaning the block and the head as the head flows much better on the 1g, cooling is def not a problem with the 6 bolt head or block so dont worry about any of that...if you have a stick shift you will also have to get the flywheel from the 6bolt block..everything else should bolt up except you will have to modify the cam angle sensor to work with the 6 bolt block and the drivers side motor mount has to have some mods to work....you can find the info on the mods on the site that the other guys gave you so i strongly suggest checking them out...good luck!!

ok ihave decided that i am goin to buy a whole engine complete so i do nothave to break everythng down and build it up, just throw it in, what year would be the best engine to buy? and what modifications would i need to make for everything to fit perfectly? thanx
