My 92 TALON AWD TSI died on me yesturday, it was already dark so I didn't bother to look at it until this morning, well I went to turn it over the see what was going on and I could see all the other belts turning but the timing bet and gears are not moving. I didn't hear any weird noise or have any weird smells it just died driving up the street. Is my motor gone has anyone else experienced this? Should I even bother having someone look at the car?

Thanks in advance for any help.

timing belt is still on the gears but couldn;t get in there to see id the lower drive gear was okay.

-Sound like the timing belt strip teeth on the crank shaft sprocket, loosen both cams from the bearing caps and do a leak down test, most likely will have some bend valves.

Take off the valve cover and feel the rockers. They're either loose or off which means you have bent valves. Mine did this same thing and teeth on the t-belt were gone from around the crank gear.

What did it cost you to fix it, I am actually looking into getting another motor.

Thanks

Explore options with a new engine. If you know what your plans are for performance then it's easier to put a price on things.

DUDE, same thing just happened to me a few months ago. All the belts spin EXCEPT the timing belt. and when it cranked it sounded like there was no compression or sumthin. What it was was that the timing belt was insanely stripped around the crank pulley, and i broke a whole lotta valves and the pistons were banged up. sorry but good luck man
