Columbus,
I had a friend come over today so I could do a boost leek test on his 2g. He's having some major spool up problems with his 14B'd 2g. I drove the car and it spools up very slow, the blinky reads dead lean and the EGTS shoot up to 1600 by 3000RPM. He has a number of significant boost leeks (TB, injector seal, J pipe BOV ETC). He also was missing 2 exhaust nuts on the same #4 side so he's getting that taken care of as well. Here's what I've never seen before: His vacuum at 800 RPM idle is steady at 25" . I've never seen vacuum that high and I thought that leeks would lower his vacuum if anything. He says that he's had the high vacuum from day 1 prior to having this spool up problem so I guess its non related. I was just wondering if someone knew what such a high reading was an indication of? Stock 2g motor, stock cams. His changed variables since the problem started were a 255 pump and a B&M FPR. I told him to fix the leeks first before going back to stock on the fuel stuff for troubleshooting. The pump is noisy as hell though so that could be a problem(much noisier than even a normal Walbro). I wouldn't think a bad pump would screw up his boost building though it could explain the dead lean on the blinky. If anyone knows what the high vacuum means it would be appreciated.
