Posted this also on dsmtalk,
Just bought a 95 talon tsi awd. Have had it for not even 4 days and already something wrong. Today I was out driving, got on it a little then about 15 mins later I started hearing a loud "popping" noise coming from the engine and then it seemed to go away. Scared that there might be some damage I took off back towards home and when I got there I noticed the CEL light was on. Also, when I got back the car was idling very high(1200 rpms) opposed to the normal (1000 rpms). Cam gears were installed previously but taken off, maybe thats why there is a high idle? Also, the previous owner did the honeycomb mod and took them all out, maybe this is why its running rough and I'm gettin a CEL? Right now all the mods on the car are: BR racing lower IC pipe, 2600 clutch, 255 pump, polished intake pipe, car has a 1g 6bolt swap using a ported 2g head, arp head studs, crower valve springs and crower titanium retainers. 1G intake manifold, custom upper intercooler elbow, removed the bcs restrictor. And thats all I can think of. Came back an hour and a half later and cranked it and still there is a CEL. There is no overheating or anything like that. Went to autozone and had the CEL flashed and it came up with po300 which says multiple cylinder misfire So I'm hoping its just from the honeycombs being out. The problem is I dont have the original honeycombs to put back in. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
