WTF happened to my gsx? Please help

Hey guys im new to the forum. I just bought a gsx yesterday 1992 with high mileage. The dealer didnt know alot about the car so i wasnt able to do a background check. It drove like beauty for a day but tonight i downshifted into 3rd getting off the highway, (rpms werent too high or anything) and now it feels like im pushing no boost. I still hear it whisitling but i cant get it above 3rpms basically because my boost gauge is reading 14 I think.

Could it be that i blew my turbo.

Anyone have any suggestions? I used to drive a turbo crx and one time i didnt realize my boost retard was all the way up and this is exactly what it feels like in my eclipse. Make a newbie feel welcome and please help!!

What do you mean you couldnt get a backround check? You need to take it to the dealer and have them run the VIN to see if the recall work has been done.

First of all you need to get an aftermarket boost guage if you dont already have one because the stock guage is a peice.

You most likely have a boost leak. Go to vfaq.com and look under the "Intake" section. It shows how to build a boost leak tester so you can locate and fix your problem.

kinda sounds like a big vac leak, if your turbo was blown you would still be able to get well above 3000k, just no one behind you would be able to see. Does it have problems idling?

I would guess one of your intercooler pipes popped off. Take a look.

Hi, I have a 91tsi with the same sort of problem. I have a small 16g an aftermarket boost gauge and an mbc and i had it for about two days and it was set at 13psi then it started to creep backwards and the rmp will rise slowly and i turned down the boost back to 9psi and disconected the batery to see if maybe i hit fuel cut but it didnt seem to help and my inter cooler hoses are all on could i have a whole in one or something else i dont know about that could be doing it. Thanks for the help.
