I have a 92' talon n/t. When the car is at idle with that little harness thing grounded the car is at 5 degrees btdc. When I pull off the ground it goes to 11 and 12 degrees jumping around. The car also vibrates alot from2k to 4k rpms. Is the timing normal or what can be wrong ? Thanks

May not be a balance shaft problem, it's still something to check out though. The consequences greatly outweigh the labor to check it if the belt goes.

As for the crappy idle and vibration, it could just be a simple idling problem. My car tends to misfire around a certain rpm and it doesn't always idle the way it should. The misfire makes it feel like there's no balance in the engine whatsoever. It's not a bad miss, but just enough to aggravate you.

Thanks I'll have to look into that. I know the timing belt is new but not sure about the balance shaft belt or tensioner or that stuff.
