My Power Struggle

Okay so here is the story. My car died today. When I opened my hood the nut that was on the positive terminal was nearly off and the connections for the postive terminal were spreading apart, along with my power cable from the subwoofer. So I took off the nut, removed the power cable for the sub and reattached the nut, had to use a wrench though. After doing this I jumped my car to get it started and it seemed to run fine. I decided to take it around the block a few times and it drived okay. However after a while it started to flicker and the power seemed to keep coming in and out. As I drove it longer the lights interior and exterior started to dim further and further til the car died. As I was driving the car and the lights kept dimming the battery light came on as well as a few others. Now the car is dead again and I am thinking possibly alternator, and/or the battery. Any thoughts????

Probaly your alternator, same thing happened to me on the highway once...

Yeah, you might've killed your alternator with a bad connection (It's been said to happen).

Also, check to make sure that the positive on your battery isn't touching your hood (I've had it happen). It made my car feel like it "rebooted": all of the dash lights would come on like I just started it up, and it'd sputter for a few seconds.

Well I am going to first check the alternator fuse, may need to replace that, then I think I am going to get a new battery, its about time anyway, once that is finished I am gonna see what happens. If I still have the same problem then I will try for the alternator. Any other suggestions????
