edmonton,
Just got an autometer boost gauge and the vac never goes below 0, should it be? the boost portion is fine and reads the propper psi.

no if you don't have vacuum your motor would have huge problems.....check the hose from gauge to manifold it is very brittle and often cracks or breaks and would make it read 0. does it read boost?

it reads the correct psi, I got my boost and airfuel gauge installed professionally afew days ago

I had an autometer gauge that would "stick" and not read vacuum sometimes. I was going to ship it back to Autometer to have it fixed, but it was stolen anyway, so...

The next autometer boost gauge I got read +3 psi sitting in the box, so that one got sent back.

Third one's a charm.

I gather that Autometer gauges are fairly cheap, but work well enough in most situations. They do only cost like $40 anyway, so what do ya expect.

I got the cobalt series which is near the top end of autometer products.

Im not nearly as expienced as you guys so when you say just hook it upto the manifold i dont have a clue what or where todo it. they tapped into the lines just befor entering the ECU. is that ok where they did it

is it a mechanical gauge (clear plastic hose comming out of it)?
that hose should T into a vacuum line on the intake manifold but not the throttle body about anywhere else will work.

yah its a white clear line with a t fitting going from the line before entering the ECU then to the firewall.ill get acouple pics later today, all I want is peice of mind, I guess thats kinda hard with DSM's tho :p

they tapped mine on the vac hose just before it enters the ECU, also the fitting that was used is a small whitish clear tube, prolly about half the size of that rubber tube in the pic, but that was the fitting that came with my gauges.

MY BCS is located right by my airfilter, why would that person move theres?

Autometer Cobalt

One more question actually, when I was taking off my aircan when i got my car so that I could replace it and mod my MAS I accidentally broke the male end of the BCS when trying to remove the vacume hose from it, I supergluded it back on to its exact place where it broke off, does this hurt my boost or anything,My new boost gauge gets no vac reading but the stock gauge does.

I peak at about 9psi in 3rd 8psi in fourth abd 7-8 in 5th, is that right for a stock car exept for no aircan, K&N,no silencer,no lower honeycomb, and ported out the air bypass valve.

and lastly would a junkyard be my best bet for finding a new one.

thx

-How did you port out an air bypass valve?

-There's no vac hose around the ECU, why don't you take the car back to the installer and ask them what's up with the vac.

-The BCS was put on the air can from the factory, if you install a boost controller, you can get rid of the BCS.

as for porting out the air bypass valve check out the Picks on my wesite showing the proccess, there on page 2

-That's not the air bypass valve, that's part of the MAS, air bypass valve is on the intercooler pipe, aka Blow Off Valve (BOV).
