Wacky temp gauge

I can start my car, and it'll jump all the way past the H Then jump down, back up a few times, and finally settle in at a normal running temp. Close to half way. Every once in a while it'll drop a bit or shoot all the way past H, then settle back to the normal running temp.

Wtf?

Just the gauge? See if your sender's wire is shorting someplace, check around the sensor itself. Or, perhaps the sender is dying.
