turbo?

ok here is the deal. my motor is bone stock (96 talon tsi) i dont have any aftermarket gauges or a datalogger. my car has been acting just fine before yesterday. yesterday whenever i would drive, it wouldnt matter what rpm's im at or any gear but when i would start to boost(stock gauge needle gets to the middle.. i know its not reliable but its all i got) i would get a really bad vibration and lack of power. so i would just let off on the throttle and try to stay off the boost at all till i figured it out. also it threw an engine code and i havent been able to make it down to a shop yet to check it out. when i was seeing what it would do when i push through the vibrations and run the boost , when i normally heard my turbo spooling up it would sound like its stuttering like a sprinkler. could this be a sign of my turbo going bad? im about to take off the hoses and check for shaft play but i thought i would make a post incase somebody knew for sure what it might be.

"knew for sure" yeah, death and taxes. Everything else is just a guess. You had several people look at this and move on. I don't give absolutes but as an educated starting point I'd check spark related items of course that includes the plugs. While you have those out do a compression check and record the numbers.
