shifter fells spongy and has mad play...WTF?

REcently installed a 2600 kit with OEM throwout bearing and ever since i did, the shifter has had free play and when its in gear, it sorta feels like its not and has lots of play left to right, plus it seems like it got worse today after driving the car hard on the freeway, i checked the linkages and they look good and I did a search but there's was no help that i could find, does anyone have any ideas?

Replace your shifter cable bushings with Rollerblade style bearings. If your shifter is rattling back and forth when you accelerate, it is time to take the end plate off your transmission and tighten up the two 36mm nuts.

or do waht i did after clutch install, get a friend to get in the car and put the car in second gear and then pull the shifter twards themself a few times while you look at the linkage... if you remove the UIC it helps alot... when i had sombody do this i saw a bracket that was saposed to hold the cable still moving when they pulled the shifter back twards them in pulses while it was in second gear

I found out the problem and it was my shift linkage cable mount, the two bolts holding it on came out and the linkage cables were moving all over the place, just mounted it back on with two 12mm bolts and the shifter is nicer than ever now.........thanks guys

mine is doing this now, the mount is on bushings and the bushings are worn out i think my mount moves around when i shift and its causing me to always miss gears when shifting hard and fast and grind 3rd gear...

where do i get new bushings? My mount is not lose, just the bushings are shot, the 2 bolts are tight as hell
