Well I took the car for a spin today to get some antifreeze, had to put some antifreeze in to replace the straight water I was running due to winter coming, and not even 3 miles up the road the car throws an engine code and the car was acting like it had no power and somewhat of a rev limter effect at 4k in 3rd gear with the throttle somewhat down. My EGT's were about 1300 F hitting 1400 F a few times between gears, if that matters. Mind you I was not getting on it with it being a new motor and all.

I had my palm pilot with data logger but no batteries so I could'nt check the code. The car has been running funny since the new motor, I assume its due to not being tuned yet. I have maybe 30 miles total on the new motor. My question is it possible that if the timing is off the car would act funny like that? The car acts like a terd and has no power when I press on the gas, its been doing that since I put the new motor in. Boost does build but not enough to notice any effect. Again, my car is not tuned but I should have some power just putting around. I have plans to grab a timing light and some batteries to check my engine light. I'm sure that will shed some light I was just looking for some input on how the car is reacting.

My fuel pressure is 42 PSI at the regulator during idle, I am running stock boost with stock injectors and my AFC set at zero on hi and low, I wanted to get the car running good on stock injectors before I added the bigger injectors so thats why I am running zeros on the AFC, all of my vacuum lines are good and my intercooler piping couplings are nice and tight through the whole system. Any insight?

Thanks!

I did a little research and found I need to check my sparkplug gap. I'm hoping thats what it is. I'll keep ya posted. I found alot of unanswered questions in the archives so thats why I asked the question to begin with.

Well checked the plugs today and they are gapped correctly. I still have the check engine light on and have not read the code since I can't find my cradle for my palm to reload the pocketlogger tool. Until I find it does anyone have something else in mind I want to check. How about timing? Do you think that might cause what I'm running into? Thanks.

have had the same problem with my jdm engine it stumbles and has no power it runs like crap for about 15-20 minutes then it runs fine. I noticed that your egt were a little high mine have been too. I have replaced damn near everything, I don't have a check engine light anymore and there is a chance that your engine light has nothing to do with your problem. Have you checked the condition of your spark plug wires or maybe your coil pack or even a bad theromostat. When you put your new motor in did you have and broken sensors on the new motor? Did all of your sensors on the new motor match up with the wiring in the your car?

Everything is in good shape. The original motor only had 20K on it and the car had never been drivin in the rain or snow so everything is in pretty good shape. As for the EGT's I have noticed them to be a bit high as well. I did find out that my fuel pressure at idle should be 35lbs instead of 42lbs but I can't see that making that much of a difference. The wires are brand new, along with the plugs. I did notice that number three cyl. had a good amount of black on it vs. the other sparkplugs when checking the gap. I'm really stumped as to what it might be. My coolant temps are about 180 degrees before the fans come on so I'm not running hot on the block.

I'm sure it will pop up eventually its just a matter of troubleshooting. Thanks for your help.
