Ok all... I have read through all of the old posts in this forum, but I am not sure if they are describing the same issue that I am having.. Here Goes:
Ok I have a 90 Talon AWD.. 5spd. I have swapped it with a turbo laser engine. I finally got the car running but there is something that I am not understanding.
The car idles a little rough. while accelerating, the boost gauge goes to full boost, and the rpms drop dramatically. I get no power. I can only get up to about 40mph but black smoke comes from my tailpipe. (burning gas) I have replaced the spark plugs, fuel filter, and put fuel treatment in the tank. I even traded the turbo (with wastegate) from another car that I knew ran.
It acts as though it is not getting enough air to balance the ratio. But when I disconnected the MAF harness it ran better. not perfect but better. so I switched the MAF with 2 others and still no better. I have checked all the vaccums and replaced all of them with new ones.
It is really hard to start so I pulled the spark plugs to find them saturated with carbon and a really bad gas odor. One spark plug had a really foul scent and smelled like something was burnt.
Ive taken these engines apart waaaaaayyyy too many times and I stopped trusting mechanics to do anything since majority of them know nothing about these cars.
Can anyone help me???
