If I am cruising along and floor my car it seems like it over revs. But if I drive it gradually it shifts right into gear without a problem. Does this mean that the transmission is on it's way out? I first noticed it one day while getting on the interstate, I floored it coming off of the exit ramp and the tach shot way up to redline and then it kicked into gear. It's like something is slipping. We changed the fluid & filter today and we put Mitsubishi transmission fluid back in it but still no difference, it does the same thing. This is my wife's daily driver so she really doesn't drive it hard at all, if we don't abuse it should it last under normal driving or will it still need rebuilding in the near future? Thanks

He's been away. Some of the effects are still wearing off.

Get your car to an independant automatic transmission shop, have them check it over and adjust it. Has it ever been fully serviced, with the bands adjusted and the sensors checked? They _may_ be able to save it.

Any transmission shop or the dealer? I'm sure that the transmission hasn't been serviced. We just bought the car with 61,000 on it and did the 60k maintenance on it. I didn't know that there was adjustments on the transmission. Is this a very involved process? Meaning will it be expensive to get done at the dealer? Thanks guys!!!

i dont' know if dsm got an auto tranny cable line inside the engine but my honda does.

make sure that that line is not loose or that it came off.
its located where the throttle cable is, there should be like three cables.
one for the cruise control, one for the pedal/throttle body, and one is for the auto tranny.
