ok lets see here,

i just finished rebuilding my first engine last week, it started on the first crank , now i am have all kinds of problems with it:

- low oil pressure, its fine when i first start the car, but after about 5 min it starts to go down.

- low compression, i hope i fixed this problem cause i pulled the head back off and got it rebuilt (since i didn't do it the first time), i know all the exhaust valves had a lot of carbon build up, just wasn't sure if this would cause the problem or not (not sealing properly??). and the sleeves were shot

- and a weired knocking noise when the engine is at 2k on up, i'm hoping this problem is solved now that the head is rebuilt

they only thing i realy did was leave the belt off the silent shaft, but i left the shaft in.... would this cause low oil pressure? becides this, i followed the haynes book........

aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh................

i put it all back to gether today and now my compression is all screwed up,

ok before i rebult the head, cylinder #1 was the lowest, thew othe 3 were all even

now cylinder #1 is the highest, and 2, 3 & 4 are low. (40psi diff)

dose it take time for the valves to seal? all i ever worked on before were rx-7s, this is the first piston engine i ever realy worked on (rebuilt) do i have to run it for a while to set the seals? i can use anykinda help right now, i am completly lost

-Didn't compress the rings correctly while putting the pistons in, the ring gap score the combustion chamber wall, I had to rebore the block and get one size up piston set, then another time after having the shop bore out the block, I didn't clean out the oil passages good enough, fine steel shaving damage all the crank bearing before being trap by the oil filter, so live and learn, good luck.
