Is This A Hard Job

i need to know how hard a job like this would be...and how much it would be.....i need....

-head gasket-
-piston rings-
-homing job-

and any other gaskets n shit....basicly i want the motor rebuilt...i have a 2gen talon N/T

Well, if your not gonna pull the motor yourself thats about $250-300 to pull just the engine, then honing will take about 2 or 3 hours and then installing the piston rings and stuff arent hard you just have to make sure that the piston rings and the head gasket match the now bigger bore size. Look for about 900$ for them to pull the engine, take the top apart, and put on those parts and honing...

not to sound like an ass but if you had to aske that ? dont try it our self. and have it done by someone who has done it before. it could get exspansive depending on where you go. i had a blown hg and ams wanted 700 to do it

yea dude that sh!ts not cheap dawg....700-900$ is what your lookin at i can guarentee u that...pullin an engine isnt somethin anyone can do...its not liek changing oil where a 10 year old kid could do it...even tho that would be nice...not possible...

im not a very advanced guy here, I haven't done much work on my car yet, and yeah im mechanically inclined and build stuff all the time.

Point is, I just took out my engine in my garage. lots of socket wrenches, pb blaster, a lift and stand.

we did it for fun and it went fine.

It is something anybody can do with the proper directions (which is why at some point ill complle a 2gawd engine removal step by step

May as well throw in a valve job while you're there, you're just a sneeze away from a complete rebuild. It's hard if you don't do it regularly, it's fairly routine with some areas of concern if you're a rebuilder. O, that's a "honing" job. No pigeons in DSMs.

I rebuilt my engine myself in my garage with little or no help. the acctual rebuild probably cost me less than 500 bucks, but i was also modding and upgrading things so i really dont know. It really isnt a hard process. Just takes time. It is also kinda fun and great for learning. Did I mention im 17. Well my engine has 4100 miles on it now. Just did a compression test and it seems i did something right. 160 across all cylinders. So if you or a friend have the tools dont be affraid to do it, just take your time and do it right. Took me 2 months to finish my engine. 2 months well worth it.

2 months to rebuild your engine? damn dude i rebuilt my friends J-spec engine with all the aftermarket parts you could want in 2-2 1/2 days...did i mention im also 17? and 18 on nvember 24th 2003? yea betta' believe it...did i also mention that we had to file about .002's off this top pison ring cuz it didnt fit propery the first time for some reason..now if that was you...you would have called your mom and returned the old one and wait another week or two...and yea if you have theright tools nothing is that hard on a car...especially if your in a UTI Soponsored school like me...

good for you timmuh did you want a medal for being the stupidest mofo ever...i go to school form 750am till 310pm and work from 4pm till 10pm and do hwk from about 1015pm till about 11pm..and even then...i STILL work on my car...ask me if i care about how much sleep I get...true gearheads dont care about sleep, all they care about is that the job is done right and it works...oh and i forgot to mention...girls are big on the gearhead lists too...

Homework...Uti doesn't have homework. Good try though. By the way, that school isn't hard. I graduated a month ago and it's a breeze. Most kids don't even do anywork and have no problem copying and breezing through w/ high grades.

You talk like file fitting rings is the hardest and most uncommon thing in the world. The reason your rings didn't fit is because they were FILE FIT RINGS. And if you are saying that file fiting rings is that hard, and you never knew about them then I don't want you building any of my motors.

I am building mine right now and its taken me over a month to get it torn down. All that matters is that it's done right. If my engine takes a full year to build doesn't matter just the satisfaction that I built it and had fun while doing it.
