Ok, not too long ago my crankshaft pulley broke, don't know how or why, but it broke so I ordered a new lightened one. I got it in the mail today and installed it, my buddy that was helping me slipped alittle with the breaker bar and it turned the pulley counter-clockwise, now car won't start. I'm almost definate it's out of time but is there any quick fix to this or how do I go about getting it back in time? Also, how big of a job am I in for? Thanks.

It shouldnt be out of time from just turning the crank counter-clockwise, it is just not good b/c of the chance of loosening the idler pulley.

Make sure you didnt somehow disconnect the crank angle sensor (its under the timing belt cover, near the crank) or anything else to do with firing.

ok, thanks, I read somewhere that turning the pulley counter-clockwise will cause the belt to slip alittle. Don't know if that is true or not, but will check all you said tomorrow and let you know if it helped. Thanks again.

WRONG! Turning the crank COUNTER-clockwise runs the risk (more like it WILL happen) of the Timing Belt Skipping!

Thanks leet, I new I wasn't crazy, but how hard is that to fix, is it a fairly easy job I can do myself or is it a leave it to a shop type of problem? I also heard that when I tried to start the car that it will bend valves if miss timed, is this true?

Depending on how badly the belt has jumped, you could have bent some valves. Worry about that later. For now, re-time your car. Go get a Haynes or a Chilton's manual if you do not know how. If you are not comfortable doing it, take it to a REPUTABLE mechanic to be done.

Ok, I checked and put everything back in time and it still doesn't start, any other idea what could be causing this? It ran fine before the pulley install. All I did was replace pulley, put NEW belts back on and it won't start now. I did remove a vaccum line to the FPR but replaced it due to alittle wear, that couldn't have caused any problems I don't think. Any ideas will be welcomed. Thanks.

What kind of not starting are you speaking of.??

It cranks, but won't turn over.?
You turn the key and nothing happens.?
You turn the key, and you get the starter relay click, but that's it.?

More info, or we can't exactly fix, it won't start.
