Weird idle when cars cold

K well i had this problem last year when it started to get cold and i am having the same problem right now... when my car is cold and i am at idle, my rpms weill jump up and down from normal idle to like 500 rpm more... its so retarded, and like hhhmmmm.....thump....hhhmmmm.... thump, and it does it until i take off, but once i start again it does the same thing, its so annoying and sounds so stupid, anyone know what it could be and how much it would cost me to fix it... oh and it doesnt do it all the time, like one day it did a few times, next day it didnt do it once.

Sounds like the idle sensor switch. Your year should be on the TB, just one wire going to the top of a sensor. Pull it off, and see if it idles up with no problem, if it idles up, high or not, and doesn't dip back down, you need to replace the sensor. Also, have you blocked off your EGR, or done any of those water line mods that people "think" make performance power, where the water lines go to the TB?

could be a idle sensor and it could also be your MAF....try making sure that it is connected right....dont be fooled , ur car will still run without one...it will just run like shit....

k well i dont have the egr block off or nothing, could you explain more about that sensor, and i dont know if it is my mas, cause like i said it doenst do it all the time, sometimes very often, and sometimes never, but will only do it when its cold.

Just pull the wire clip off of the TB, it runs to the top of it, and is a little bit toward the firewall. It comes straight down on it. When the car is running, and doing the up and down revving, take the clip off. The car might idle up real high, but if it doesn't go up and down, you know what your problem is. Replace the part that wire connects to.

Idle Surge....VFAQ, all 1gs have it if u havent done anything for it yet...along with many other problems..
