I hope someone can help me with this question...

I bought my 1991 Talon like 6 or 7 months ago, the car is en excelent conditions excpet for some few "small bad details". One of those "bad details" is that the car has the balance shaft belt removed. The last owner remove it. Yesterday a freind, that has some considerable mechanic experience, told me that if I continue using and running my car without the Balance Shaft Belt I can cause several damages to the engine due to the lost of oil pression caused by the missing belt. My manometer oil pressure sender (switch) does not work so I can't verify the theory of my friend. The light bulb of the oil pressure has never turned on.

Those someone knows if it is true what my firend told me? Does removing the Balance Shaft Belt could affect the oil pressure levels? can I cause serious damages to my car?

Thanks in advance :thumb:

i know that when you due a balance shaf eilimation you have to tap one of the holes because of oil pressure. i would get the oil pressure sender (swith) fixed first. keep that monitored and if you see that your oil pressure is being affected than go ahead and get the belt. if you do get the belt change your timing belt and water pump while your at it.

the balance shaft as long as its still in the engine will not effect anything. It will keep the oil port blocked and will not have any loss of oil pressure. I have eliminated Both of my balance shafts and have gotten alot better oil pressure now. My oil pressure gauge shows half way on start up with out the rear balance shafts to slow the oil pump down. Fix your oil pressure gauge sender and you will see it wont affect anything. its just a 12 lbs dud weight sitting in your engine.

Many people, even myself have eliminated that from Balance shaft belt due to the worry of that belt shredding and killing the main timing belt.

Keep in mind that that there are two balance shafts in the engine and must be working/not working together. The upper front one is driven using the balance shaft belt, the rear lower one is driven from the oil pump and has to be removed or modified if the front BS is disabled. It's common to find the front BS still in the engine but disabled after someone has performed the balance shaft elimination mod since it's harder to drop the engine low enough to pull it out and then block off the oil feeds in the block. Leaving the front BS in the engine but disconnected effectivly blocks the oil passages as long at the BS bearings aren't too bad.

It's common for the wire to the oil pressure sender to fall or be pulled off. Check that first before buying a new sender. Since there are two oil pressure "senders" you need to make sure you get the right one. The actual oil pressure sender for the guage is located on the rear of the oil filter bracket assembly near the crank pulley. The oil pressure switch for the idiot light is located on the front of the same assembly by the alternator.

Yesterday I changed my Oil Pressure Sender but the Gauge still with out measure anything!...  does someone have an idea what can be hapening? any clue?

Answer: TOTAL BULLSHIT - the front balance shaft BELT has nothing to do with Oil Pressure - I take it the unused Cog & the unused tensioner pulley is still there?

My manometer oil pressure sender (switch) does not work so I can't verify the theory of my friend. The light bulb of the oil pressure has never turned on.

Answer: The Oil Pressure Sending Unit is at the back of the Oil Filter Housing - it may only be available from Mitsu. The Oil pressure Switch for your "Idiot Light" is at the front of the Oil Filter Housing - it is available virtually anywhere.

Those someone knows if it is true what my firend told me?

Answer: As you desribed it he is incorrect.

Does removing the Balance Shaft Belt could affect the oil pressure levels?

Answer: The little BELT that drives the forward balancer - absolutely not.

can I cause serious damages to my car?

Answer: WE ALL DO THAT - Get a manual - or at least a manual on CD - it's an absolute necessity.

Thanks in advance :thumb:

Answer: You are quite Welcome, Good Luck.

By the way, why are you so angry????? take it easy man!

And thanks for answer me almost all of my questions, but you forgot the last one: WHY IS MY GAUGE IS NOT WORKING????????

PD: Thanks once again for your welcome...
