Crankwalk in an A/T

Crankwalk is rare but there are cases. I just would like to know if anyone has had it and if so, how did they detect it. Not that I have crankwalk.

how do you tell.. As stated above, drop the oil pan and check crankshaft play... It's the sure fire way of telling if you have it or not..

Symptoms of crank walk include.. Inconsisent clutch pedal height (doesn't apply to you), clutch getting stuck down while in a left turn (doesn't apply to you), ticking coming from the crankshaft / crankpulley area...

And any car is subject to crankwalk.. Just b/c you have an auto doesn't mean your immune.. Trust me, you will know you have crankwalk when it gets bad enough if you don't check.

***Edit***
And if you just let it go, and it does walk, you risk the chance of ruining your crankshaft, block, and other components... Take the 2 minutes on your next oil change to check out crank play..

Well. That's a good question. The answer clouded by the number of suspects of the cause. Ones I've noticed: substandard materials from Mits, poor tolerancing by Mits, poor oil supply, extreme use.... if you knew what was wrong, you could fix it. A fire in the kitchen seldom leads to a conference in the bedroom, it leads to people fighting the fire in the kitchen. But smoke coming from the heater vents? Is it in the attic, is it the furnace, is it in the ductwork? Where do you go to fight it, or do you just run from the house.
If it's a bad job of hardening on the thrust bearing faces of the crank, machining won't fix it. If it's an out-of-true block, a new crank will also die. If it's non-obvious oiling troubles, where to fix?
About all early detection can do for you is get it repaired... but it still may not be fixed.
And anyone who comes up with "the" answer is in line to make hundreds of dollars. Maybe even a grand or two.
