Grinding When Shifting.

Okay... Man, I'm worried. I was on my way home and was downshifting into second when it made this really loud grinding noise and wouldn't let me go into gear.. Right after the grinding stopped I heard all this debris underneath the car.. I was freaked and pulled into a parking lot and checked it out, everything seemed fine... Except a couple mins. afterward the stick seemed really loose, like I could move it around alot. Is it me that is causing this really bad grinding from misshifting or is there something wrong with my car? Help me ASAP, please! Thanks.

If you are freaked about it, drain and fill the tranny and see if you see any metals shavings in the fluid.

Could be synchros DSM's are known for it

Just went to my car and the stick feels hella funny.. When I'm in second gear seems like there's too much play and that i can slide it into fourth from second by just moving it to the right a bit, like there's no real distinction between the two.

Sounds like your second gear syncros are goneski.

If you do the work yourself Id just suggest taking a day and pulling off the tranny to see what kinda damage is done. If your not bring to your shop and tell them what happened.

doesn't second gear have double synchros?
does it grind in every gear now?

We can't see through these wires. You'll have to look at it on your end. Or, hire a shop to.

Check your shift linkage at the tranny. The clips might have fell off of the linkage cables.
