Well I went in today for a smog check in the 1g GST, pulled up to the service bay, popped the hood and the first thing the guy told me was that he couldn't "set" timing because my timing belt cover was off (was too lazy to put it back on after last timing belt change). I know that you need the cover on there because of the marking to check the timing, but I have no idea why he said he had to "set the timing." In CA, is ignition timing part of the smog check?
Anyways,
He didn't charge me anything, and did a quik sniffer test @ idle -
HC - .6
CO - 0
I'm assuming these are good readings, because he said that the car was "real clean." Recently changed out the car and dumped a QT of denaturated alcohol in.
So I went back home to look for my cover, and I can't find the damn thing, I think it might have accidently gotten thrown out. Doh. Anyone have a spare 1g 6 bolt cover?
