bad boost issues!!!!

hey everyone im a noob but ive got an interesting ? i recently switched to a big 16g part of the reason being that on the 14b i had terrible overboost probs. i was spiking to 20+ psi on stock fuel system minus a pump. tried everything on that including, as per advice from extreme motorsports, removing the boost solenoid and running a straight vacuum to the wastgate t'd into the bov(was "supposed to" give me 100% guaranteed 14.7 psi because that is the limit on the wg diaphragm) this still didnt work. car ran ok but scared of damage. now ive put the 16g on after porting the o2 hous. more behind the wg flap for further opening ability and now i cant get boost any higher than 10 psi??? once again tried w/ and w/o the boost solenoid in place with no success. i need major help! thinking about seeing if a mbc will solve this prob. thanks for any input. later

Have you done a boost leak test?

If so, test the wastegate actuator. All you need is something to pump air into a hose connected to the wastegate and see when it stops building pressure and the arm moves.

My stock wastegate on my gs-t and awd both opened at 10psi. The only thing you can do it put a mbc on it.

i was wondering if that could be it, it was also doing it with the wg actuator that was on the j-spec turbo that came with the motor, shouldnt that have a different psi or no? i put the car up on mylift once and tested it in gear off the ground and watched the wg open so i think its just a low psi. thanks for the input. also do you think the overboost issues from before could have been from the small turbo, 3" exhaust, no cat. combo? thats what extreme told me was wrong before and i guess it sounds pretty logical. thanks again.
