when making left turns and stepping on the clutch, it will loose pressure and will feel very soft but i can always but it in gear. I tried making hard right turns.....and the clutch is fine.....only happens when making left turns but not all the time........
this is the only crankwalk sign my car is showing........
what are the chances that my engine have crankwalk?
can this just be a clutch problem?

damnit............i need a good manual book
what is a good manual boook to get? the one from mitsubishi? or a haynes, chilton one?

My car is the same when I make a left turn the pedel feels soft but it goes into gear with ease. When I make hard rights the pedel gets a little harder than normal forward motion traveling.. ? weired huh so I am curious on this post to Im going to change the master and slave and change to a stainless steel line so I will see if that helps. The only other thing I think it could be is it sounds like a bearing going bad in my trans cause when the pedel is up you hear this rubbing noise and when i push the pedel It goes away so i wander if that would cause the pedel diffrence cause the shaft in the trans is moving similer to crankwalk but hey I am (no expert). If you end up finding out what is from some shop post it please.

OMG.......when i started my car today it was making a taping noise.......
fawk shit i just bought the car and it already has crankwalk.........fawk fawk fawk.......

LOL don't freak out until you know for sure. If you don't know how to check for thrust play, take it to a mechanic who does...

That sucks man post again after you find out if it is or not walking. If so sorry man but you got me scared now OMG

Man don't freak out, where was the ticking noise coming from. If it's coming from around the valve cover it's lifter tick. When I get home tomorrow, I'll see if I can find the wav file of what crankwalk ticking sounds like. I was freaked out the first time I heard a ticking noise but it was only lifter tick.

yah i heard that wav file of what crankwalk sounds like already and thats what my car sounded like for the first minute or two my car started this morning but just not as bad and was constant not on/off like the file.......this is so retarded......spent almost 10k on this car just to have the engine replace??? damn........
plus the car is plan stock....everything is stock about it.......
probably take it to a shop to measure crankplay for me

can there be any other reasons why my clutch looses pressure only when i'm making left turns/moving to the left? because thats the only time my clutch looses pressure.
How long will the motor last until its totally fawked? because I want to know how long I got left to save money for a new 6bolt.
6bolt swap meaning swaping out the motor right??? or is it just the blocK?

drop the oil pan and measure crank play.. That is the only way to positively ID crankwalk.. Go home, drop the oil pan, measure crank endplay. It's the only way to definitely know.

and smartass of the year goes to......

:drumroll:

Seriously, though, please limit whoring to DSMLife and non-tech sections.

Getting back to your question.....Yes, you most likely are walking. My engine has the same cols start lifter tick and mushy clutch when going left. I'm planning on xuring it with a 6-bolt motor. I have a guy up in maine doing the swap for me for about $750 with all fluids changed. Not bad IMHO. Take out the clutch starter switch and let it warm up a bit before you drive it and it will last until you can get a 6-bolt swap. I did that to mine and it hasn't been any worse in the 12K I put on the motor. Oh yeah, when you do the swap, get the 1G head as well, it flows soooo much better.

thanks for the replies
after i get the plates i'll probably sell it and get another honda........

oh, thats such a cop-out...If you want to compare price to performance, you could add the 6-bolt swap and still come out ahead with the DSM. Stick with it, I've had some dark moments with my DSM, but I've held on and I'll soon be putting down pretty good numbers. That is unless you're an autocross freak and you're buying an Integra Type-R, then more power to ya! If you're looking to drag and put down some serious numbers, stick with it, it'll all be worth it.

can anyone send me a "CRANKWALK WAV FILE" pls? i'm having that tick tack tapping sound too. :(

thanks...

yah im trying to find a good dsm shop so they can check/and give me an estimate for the 6bolt swap.

is theres any other reasons why my clutch would be loosing pressure only when making left hand turns/steering to the left? because if it was clutch problems....wouldn't i be losing pressure on the clutch randomly?

does the 6bolt swap would cost less than 1500 for labor/parts?

Fine, spend your 1500-2k to pay a mechanic to do your 6bolt swap when you haven't in fact researched your problem... Best of luck with your 6 bolt swap. :thumb:

eh......my researching leads to "crankwalk".
or is there any other reasons for my clutch to be squishy/soft/feels like it almost can't make it up again when only making left turns/merging left/going left???

Like I said.. Best of luck with your 6bolt.. You are right, you have crankwalked.... Just so you know, the clutch going squishy / soft in a left turn isn't a sign of crank walk.. The clutch pedal being stuck on the floor and not coming up is.
