Motor bent a rod....

Motor bent a rod with 950 miles on it? I did not do 1st rebuild. Some retard did. Do i have to take out trans when i pull my motor out? Or can trans stay in car. I really do not want to take the trans out its awd. First time pulling a motor rebuilding it by myself. thanks.

How do you know you bent a rod? A bent rod in a DSM is uncommon.

I really do not know yet. Not until the motor is out but it's the worst scraping and shaving noise i have everheard in my life coming out of a motor and its not in the valve train. Some people who heard it said it could a rod bearing or something. but this is my 1st experience. The internals are 1g crank, 1g rods, 2g piston, 2g block, 1g head....

oh yeah, i took out the spark plugs and all were fine except for the one closest to the timing belt it had oil all over it.

Taking the tranny out with the motor is much easier then trying to leave it in. The transfer case is a breeze and the axles aren't that much harder.
