I did the 550cc and the 2gmass thing to my 1g talon with no fuel control and it does not work it sputters and you can barely rev it. I read that they go hand and hand. but when I cover the two holes on the side of the mas it runs good so I put some duct tape over the two holes and it runs alright? but still when I shift to third it always backfires is it safe to drive to work? did I just lean it out by plugging the two side holes on the mas.will a afpr fix this? thanks

You should have all those holes covered anyways, your sucking in unmetered air. Put some JB Weld on a screw and plug those holes nice and tight. Second, you should always have an SAFC or some management when running the 2G MAS. My buddy was told the Evo III 510cc inj.s and a 2G MAS go hand in hand, they dont! He ended up getting a 2G FPR and leaning it out a bit and it ran BETTER, but still not very well. Get an SAFC and tune :thumb:

They say that will work, but not ever car is the same, like said above get some form of AFC and tune.

I was talking about the two holes on the side of the 2g mas. Is that what your talking about, the part that has the two little honeycombs on the side. am I leanning it out putting duct tape over them two slots or richining it. I know that if you take that screw and get it flush on the mas it leans it out so I figure covering two of side slots with duct tape on the mas it is richining it? am I right.thanks

If you're running with the side honeycombs out, you will run really lean, even with the 550's. Back when I ran a hacked 2g MAS with 550's I had to richen the idle by over 50% with my S-AFR. You need a fuel control computer.

So the 2G MAS with 550's generally runs a little lean? I've got the knob-style AFC...should I be tuning for knock or O2's (or timing)?
