My car is a 96 TSi AWD. My performance mods consist of:
FP Big28
3000GT Fuel Pump
EVO Ported Exhaust Manifold
Custom 2.5" Turboback 02 eliminator
Dejon Tool Intake & KN Filter
Dejon Tool U/L IC Piping & Throttle Body Elbow
Hallmon MBC
Boost & A/F Gauges
Short Shifter
ACT2100
Sometimes when I release my throttle from being held down about 30% or more I hear a squeak noise. It sounds like a light metal brushing against metal sound. The length of the noise is approximately that of a tire chirp (Fraction of a second). I can only hear it with the windows down and the music volume low. I can't seem to remember when the noise began. I have done a lot of mods in a short period of time, so trying to determine which mod this could be related to (If any) is pretty hard. Also, if I release the pedal slower, then the noise lasts a little longer, maybe 30% longer. However, it is still a mere fraction of a second.
The occurence of the noise seems to be completely random. I don't have to be boosting for it to occur. Sometimes the car will do it for about 5 minutes, then the rest of the journey the noise won't be there. Sometimes it won't do it at all. I can't really put a pattern to it. Also, last time at the shop when they were doing work on the car, they were pushing the throttle from under the hood for testing purposes. This did not make it squeak at all. Unfortunately, as I said, sometimes it doens't squeak anyway. So, it is hard to tell if it didn't squeak because the noise is related to just the pedal assembly, or if it didn't squeak because it didn't "feel" like it. I have a feeling it should have squeaked because they did it maybe 10 times over the course of 2 hours.
Anyway, does anyone have any idea as to what it might be? I was thinking here is a possible relation to the throttle body elbow, because it is related to the throttle. Thanks for any opinions.
