My 90 GST is stuck in 1st gear. And I can't get it out of 1st gear.. I'm want to try to give it FORCE but I don't want to break something. Before all this it shifted to go in all gears fine. But it's been acting up the last past 3 days. What could it be?

If 1st is the only gear, I would say syncros; depending on what it is doing. It could also be the bearings, I am not much help b/c I dont know what is going on.

If all gears dont feel that great, maybe clutch or TOB. Try adjusting it.

Okay it's out of gear...And it can go into any gear when the clutch is in and when the car is off. But when I start the car. It won't go into any gear. And if it's in a gear you can't pull it out ... what could be the problem... in out words what's now when bad

Sounds like a clutch master or slave problem.

Clutch master- Get under your dash with a flashlight or droplight, Look at where the clutch master enters the car and is attached at the pedal assembly. See if there is any fluid on the bottom.

Clutch slave- Jack car get under it and take out clutch master.. Check for fluid on the cluch masters rod. reinstall.

Also check fluid. This sounds Like a clutch mst/slv problem. Let me know i will try to help u diagnose your problem.

i checked where I think the Clutc master attached behind the brake pedal. And it's greasy a lil and that's it. But I bleed the lines and same problem. When in gear and I try to turn it over. It jumps but no start. But in neutral it starts. But can't get it in gear now.

This Does NOT sound like a tranny problem.. Do yourself a favor just replace the clutch slave and master. Good in the long run. Come back and tell me how it works.

Well I orderd my NEW Clutch Master Cylinder for 45 shipped from Enthusiastsauto.com. If it don't work I'll buy a slave cylinder for 37 shipped. And I'll let you know whats up on saturday.

Tranny's are really weird, and this is going to sound out of a reasonal advice, but check and refill if needed your transmission fluid, I'm serious, I had this problem twice on different cars, and even when I replaced Clutch Master Cyl. and Slave Cyl. it didn't work till I refill my tranny fluid cause it turned out that it only had less than 2 qts, I'm telling you this sounds crazy but it may work, you can try with any auto trans fluid, and if it works then just do a full fluid change...

I changed my Clutch Master Cynlinder my slave cylinder is fine. And still doing the same thing. So sad to say I think I have to drop the tranny and hope it's the throwout bearing or clutch need adjusting.

I'm having a similar problem with a 2G. See Crankwalk post. I Replaced Master and SLave. bled, bled, bled no change. I can select gears when the car is off but not when its running. If I start it in gear it lurches forward with the clutch on the floor!. WHat he hell is this? I'm thinking TOB/PP or a bad sping int he disk. THings are not disengaging!... I may try the tranny fill. I'm in the same pickle as you Mindslayer.

Thanks, good luck
Todd

Well I found out my problem. I pulled the tranny off and the TOB and shift fork was fine. But I took a closer look at my clutch and it was something behind the Pressure Plate. I was like WTF. So I took off the PP and a spring from the disk hs broken off so I need a new disk. Since it's my daily driver one from Advance Auto will do for now for 65 bucks. Hope this help everyone with the same problem

Try adjusting the adjuster rod going into the firewall. If you haven't already. I had the exact problem with mine. I just had to adjust the rod so that it engaged sooner. Bleeding didn't work, neither did new slave... all it needed was adjustment.
check out roadraceengineering tech tips for the talon/eclipse and i'll tell you how if you haven't already done it.
