Now that my car has been running for a little under a month it decided to kill itself once again. Now the problem is with the spark. Brand new mitsu sparks and plug wires from the Mitsu dealer. Been using them for about a month. RPM's are never steady at any speed not even with cruise.

Noticed the car would surge a little while I was driving on the freeway with cruise on. There wasn't an error code so I thought it wasn't a big problem. Got a code. 0300 which is random/multiple misfires. Took out the spark plugs to see if they were dirty. I wanted to check them so if they were running rich I could tell thats why they weren't firing. They look fine. After I put them back in I can't even get up to 10mph the car is vibrating back and forth from misfires so bad.

I got an error code like a week before with something about the exhaust recirculation wasn't right. Car was working fine at that point so I thought it was just some garbage code.

Car used to idle at 2000 in park, now its ok but in reverse or 1-4th the idle is down to 500 or less. Almost to the point of stalling.

Checked all my intake lines, they looked fine. Nothing that obvious wrong with the intake at least.

I think I'm going to try checking on the egr to fix the older code about the exhaust recirculation.

If that doesn't work I guess I'm shit out of luck once again.

Very helpful.

Anyway, check the OHMS in your ISC to see if they are all in spec. Also check the ohms in you coil/power transistor. I got code 0300 and P0400 which was due to my EGR blockoff plate, which it sounds like you might have to replace. You also might want to check to see if you TPS is working correctly.

I checked my plug wires to see if they had the white circle on them which means that the spark is arching to water, but they looked good. I read more about the block off plate and think that is the answer, thank you my_gst95, but I have one question for you. Since you live in CA like I do how does your car smog with the egr blocked off?

In the meantime I'm going to make a little plate to block it off with and I'll let you know how it works, cause my car is terrible right now.

To be honest, it doesnt :) I brought it to a friend who works at a smog place and it red lighted as soon as he steped on the gas hehe. So I guess I have to take off the plate when I'm ready to smog it. I made a blockoff using thick bendable sheetmetal from home-depot. Cheap yet effective. Hope that helps.

It helps a little, but a car that doesn't smog isn't going to help me very much. This car has to drive me to work until about Christmas, after that I still need it just not for work. After that it will be sitting around while I'm in training.

Well anyway if the block off plate fixes my car then how am I supposed to take it off and drive it down to get smogged when its time? I don't think they'd let me take it off right before they smog it.

I really don't think that this block off plate is the only way to get my car running or else Mitsu is run by one stupid bastard that lets things like this happen and not fix them.

So anyone know of another way? Cause this smog thing isn't going to work for me in CA.

I don't know about the 2g's but. My 1G had the EGR passages plugged solid with carbon. Both the head and the intake were plugged. You could remove the intake manifold and clean both with one of those metal brush pipe cleaners.

Good Luck
