Oh My God!!!

I was coming up to a stop light, was about to downshift into 2nd at about 20mph and all of the sudden I stopped dead in my tracks. What the *#$$%^ just happend? So I had it towed home. It seemed to roll good enough for me to push it by my self, but if I start the engine and let out the clutch (even in neutral) it stalls. I have read about the recalls but I don't want to take it to the dealer untill I know if it is the X-fer case. Can anyone help? Has this happened to anyone else? What are the symptoms after lock up occurs?Thank god I was only going 20mph!!! Thanks in advance for your help. P.S. this website is awesome!!

I dont think its the x-fer case recall problem. If it was, I dont think you could roll the car at all.

When you were downshifting, what EXACTLY happened? Please be specific.

I never actually got into second gear, The car just stopped in it's tracks. Then I pushed it into a driveway. It has been sitting for a few days now and I don't know what to do.

like I said, more specific...Do you mean that all for wheels locked up and you just skidded (flatspotting the tires) to a stop? Or did it feel like the engine was just braking the car REALLY fast?

I think the rear wheels locked, but I was not moving that fast so there was no skid just an abrupt stop. I don't really know what happened it was all so sudden.

When did it happen? While pushing the clutch in, in third? or what?
